DC Circulator to Modify Service for the Jingle All The Way on Sunday, December 10, 2023

The Jingle All The Way 5k & 15k will lead to road closures impacting the National Mall route service. Therefore, the following service changes below will be effective at the start of service on Sunday, December 10, 2023.

The National Mall route will begin service with a detour with buses running the Museum Loop. This loop serves the museums along the National Mall but will not serve the following stops along the Tidal Basin or near the Lincoln Memorial:

• 15^th SW / Jefferson Dr.
• 15^th SW near Maine Ave.
• Basin Dr. SW near Independence Ave.
• West Basin Dr. SW
• Lincoln Memorial Circle SW
• Constitution Ave. NW / 21^st
• Constitution Ave. NW / 18^th
• 15^th NW / Madison Dr.

Once the activities conclude, the streets will reopen on the National Mall route, and regular service will resume.

DC Circulator to Modify Service for the 101^st Annual National Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony Thursday, November 30, 2023

The 101^st National Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony will close critical segments of the service route, impacting service on the National Mall route. The following service changes will be effective on Thursday, November 30, 2023, from 1:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

The National Mall route will begin detour service at approximately 1:00 pm on November 30, 2023, with buses running the Museum Loop. This loop serves the museums along the National Mall but will not serve the following stops along the Tidal Basin or near the Lincoln Memorial:

• 15^th SW / Jefferson Dr.
• 15^th SW near Maine Ave.
• Basin Dr. SW near Independence Ave.
• West Basin Dr. SW
• Lincoln Memorial Circle SW
• Constitution Ave. NW / 21^st

• 15^th NW / Madison Dr.

DC Circulator will provide shuttle service from the Woodley Park Metro Station to the Smithsonian National Zoo for Zoolights, starting this Friday, November 24 for one dollar. Shuttle service will be provided every 15 minutes from 4:45pm-9pm when Zoolights is in operation with the exception of Sundays which will run from 4:45pm-8pm. Please note, DC Circulator’s Zoolights shuttle will not participate in the following member nights: November 30, December 7, and December 14.

Passengers who board at the Woodley Park Metro DC Circulator stop will be dropped off at the WMATA L2 bus stop in front of the Zoo’s main entrance on Connecticut Ave NW. All passengers will need to depart the bus at this stop in order to show their Zoolights tickets before entering the zoo.  

Passengers returning to the Woodley Park Metro can board either 1)  at the Bus Lot next to Panda Plaza inside the zoo campus or 2) at the southbound WMATA L2  bus stop across from the zoo entrance on Conn. Ave. NW.  

Look out for the “Zoolights shuttle service” signs at the WMATA bus stops.

Service Alert: DC Circulator to Modify Service on the National Mall Route for the 22^nd  Annual Thanksgiving Day Trot for Hunger 5k on November 23, 2023

DC Circulator to Modify Service for the 22^nd Annual Thanksgiving Day Trot for Hunger 5k November 23, 2023

 The 22^nd Annual Thanksgiving Day Trot for Hunger 5k will impact the National Mall route service. Therefore, the National Mall route will start service in detour with the buses starting service at bus stop (#2) 4^th and Madison Drive SW.

Omitting bus service at bus stop (#1) E Street and Columbus Circle NE, and bus stop (#15) 3^rd Street between Madison Drive and Jefferson Drive SW.

Stops impacted:

• E Street and Columbus Circle
• 3^rd Street between Madison Drive and Jefferson Drive Ave.

The National Mall route will resume regular service after 1:00 p.m. or when the traffic returns to normal.

Service Alert: Service Changes for National Mall, Dupont – Rosslyn, and Georgetown – Union Station on October 29, 2023, for the Marine Corps Marathon

 

DC Circulator will modify service on Sunday, October 29, 2023, on the following routes to accommodate the Marine Corps Marathon. The racecourse impacts critical sections of the National Mall, Dupont Circle-Georgetown-Rosslyn, and the Georgetown – Union Station routes.

Due to the street closures during the marathon, the following service changes will be in effect at the start of service on Sunday, October 29, 2023.

National Mall Route: Delayed Start of Service.  Service reopens at 3:00 p.m. or when traffic returns to normal.

Dupont Circle-Georgetown-Rosslyn: Delayed Start of Service – Service reopens at 3:00 p.m. or when traffic returns to normal.

Georgetown-Union Station: Service detour will remain in effect until 3:00 p.m. or until traffic returns to normal.

All westbound buses headed toward Georgetown will run regular service until the Pennsylvania Ave & 22^nd St. NW bus stop. The buses will continue traveling around Washington Circle and back eastbound toward Union Station.

Buses will not travel into Georgetown and will not service the following DC Circulator bus stops below:

• Pennsylvania Ave 24^th St NW (E/B & W/B)
• Pennsylvania Ave 26^th St NW (E/B)
• Pennsylvania Ave 28^th St NW (E/B)
• M St Thomas Jefferson St NW (E/B)
• M St Wisconsin Ave NW (E/B & W/B)
• Wisconsin Ave./O St. NW (E/B & W/B)
• Wisconsin Ave./Q St NW (E/B & W/B)
• Wisconsin Ave./R St NW (E/B & W/B)
• Wisconsin Ave./34^th St NW (E/B & W/B)
• Wisconsin Ave./35^th St NW (E/B)

Once marathon activities have finished, streets will reopen around 3:00 p.m., and all service routes will resume regular service to all DC Circulator bus stops. Follow @dccirculator on Twitter for updates.

DC Circulator will modify the National Mall Route service for the Army Ten-Miler on Sunday, October 8, 2023. The Army Ten-Miler will impact the DC Circulator National Mall service from 7:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., and streets will remain closed until traffic returns to normal. The National Mall route will operate the Museum Loop, serving museums along the National Mall, but will not service the DC Circulator bus stops along the Tidal Basin or near the Lincoln Memorial.

Bus stops that will not be served:

• 15^th SW & Jefferson Dr.
• 15^th SW near Maine Ave.
• Basin Dr. SW near Independence Ave.
• Lincoln Memorial Circle SW
• Constitution Ave. NW & 21^st

 

Service for the full route is expected to resume as soon as road closures end on October 8, 2023.

DC Circulator to Modify Service for the World Cultural Festival, starting Thursday, September 28, 2023, through Sunday, October 1, 2023.

 

The World Cultural Festival will lead to road closures impacting service on the National Mall route. The following service changes will be effective Thursday, September 28, 2023,  through Sunday, October 1, 2023.

The National Mall route will begin detour service at 6:00 a.m. with buses running the Museum Loop. This loop serves the museums along the National Mall but will not serve the following stops along the Tidal Basin or near the Lincoln Memorial:

• 15^th SW near Maine Ave.
• Basin Dr. SW near Independence Ave.

DC Circulator to Modify Service for DC Half Marathon on Sunday, September 17, 2023

 

The DC Half Marathon will lead to road closures affecting the National Mall route. To accommodate this event, the following service changes will be in effect on Sunday, September 17, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. or when traffic returns to normal.

The National Mall route will be operating the Museum Loop. This loop serves the museums along the National Mall but will not serve the following stops along the Tidal Basin or near the Lincoln Memorial listed below:

• 15^th SW / Jefferson Drive
• 15^th SW near Maine Ave
• Basin Dr. SW near Independence Ave
• Lincoln Memorial Circle SW
• Constitution Ave. NW / 21^st Street
• Constitution Ave. NW / 18^th Street
• 15^th NW / Madison Drive

The National Mall route will resume regular bus service once the marathon has concluded and the streets reopen.

Service Alert: DC Circulator to Modify Service on the National Mall, Georgetown to Union Station, and Dupont Circle to Rosslyn Routes for the DC Bike Ride 2023

 

DC Circulator to Modify Service for DC Bike Ride on Saturday, September 9, 2023

The DC Bike Ride will lead to road closures affecting critical areas of the following routes: the National Mall, Georgetown – Union Station, and Dupont Circle – Rosslyn. To accommodate the event, see the following service impacts that will go into effect at the start of service from 7:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 9, 2023.

The DC Circulator service on the Dupont Circle– Rosslyn and the National Mall route will be suspended from 7:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. or until the streets reopen for regular traffic.

The Union Station – Georgetown route will begin service with the buses detouring; the buses will continue around Washington Circle NW to Pennsylvania Ave NW and then continue service on M St NW to Wisconsin Ave NW. The following bus stops below will not be served.

• K St & 24^th NW
• Lower K St. & 30^th NW
• Lower K St. & Wisconsin Ave NW
• Wisconsin Ave & M St NW

All routes will resume regular service once the activities conclude and the streets reopen.

Service Alert: National Mall Route to Modify Service for Susan B Komen DMV Tri-State More Than Pink Walk

 

DC Circulator to Detour National Mall Route Service for the Susan B Komen DMV Tri-State More Than Pink Walk on Sunday, September 10, 2023

 

The Susan B Komen DMV Tri-State Walk will lead to road closures affecting the National Mall route. The bus service will detour to 4^th Street NW, starting service west of stop # 2 at Madison Drive and 4^th Street NW.

The detour will start at 7:00 a.m. and will continue until 12:30 p.m. or when traffic returns to normal.

Bus stops impacted:

• 1: E Street & Columbus Circle NE
• 15: 3^rd Street near Madison Drive NW
