Job Summary:

Develop, implement, and administer operator training and staff development programs to support RATP Dev’s mission and culture for excellent customer service.

Essential Functions / Process Responsibilities include the following; other duties may be assigned as necessary:

  • Train, evaluate and monitor all staff (Administration and Bargaining Employees)
  • Conduct classroom and field training, give performance feedback, and conduct on-board and shadow observations when required to ensure compliance.
  • Assist in the development of customer service training and refresher training programs, writing training materials, monitoring operator performances, and making recommendations regarding employee training to improve customer service.
  • Confer with management to gain knowledge of work situation requiring training for employees to better understand changes in policies, procedures, regulations and/or technologies.
  • Formulate teaching outline and determine instructional methods.
  • Select or develops teaching aids, such as training handbooks or materials, demonstration models, visual aides, or computer tutorials.
  • Conduct and schedule training sessions.
  • Participate in identifying program needs and obtaining technical data.
  • Maintain training records
  • Assess effectiveness of training program and processes.
  • Monitor and report program results.
  • Advocate changes and recommend direction of program to improve performance.
  • Perform support functions in the Training Department.
  • Conduct new driver orientation
  • Design and implement refresher training
  • Coordinate Return to Work Training for employees.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate training and performance records for all employees ensuring compliance with RATPDEV and Client requirements.
  • Work closely with the Fixed Route Services with regards to operator training issues.
  • Work closely with Fleet Maintenance with regards to mechanic training issues.
  • Drive buses over designated routes in accordance with stated time schedules, as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Three (3) years experience delivering training programs, curriculum, and classes for a medium or large organization
  • Five (5) years experience in a mass transit environment
  • Class B/CDL with a P endorsement
  • General knowledge of bus operations in a public transportation entity.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

Operations Control Center Supervisor

Job Summary:

Provides oversight over revenue transit service through supervision of transit staff assigned to the vehicle communications operations control center, plus all bus operators.

Essential Functions / Process Responsibilities include the following; other duties may be assigned as necessary:

Develops long and short-term plans, programs, goals, and objectives necessary to operate and maintain the Operations Control Center (OCC), and maintain peak operational efficiency. Recruits, trains and schedules staff for the continuous operation of the OCC. Works closely with the OCC system administrator in maintaining; and updating, CAD/AVL system related data. Develops and maintains business operations practices and procedures related to the operation of the OCC and the CAD/AVL system. Must maintain effective communications with other agencies and transit service providers participating in the regional CAD/AVL system. Makes hiring decisions for non-supervisory departmental support positions. Briefs senior management, client representatives, and corporate staff regarding departmental performance indicators and related operational issues. Other related duties as assigned.

Preferred Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Management, or related field preferred, along with 5-10 years of documented progressive experience in a related supervisory capacity, or an acceptable combination of education and experience. Transit or transportation industry experience highly desired. Thorough knowledge of the CAD/AVL system and established CAD/AVL business operation procedures is required. Strong verbal and written communications skills required, plus exceptional organization, coordination, and interpersonal skills. Strong computer skills necessary, including proficiency in Word, Excel, and database management programs.

Additional Qualifications: Must maintain excellent motor vehicle record and hold a valid CDL.

Maintenance Technician

Job Summary:

The Maintenance Technician works under supervision, diagnoses and makes mechanical repairs to buses and other automotive equipment.

Essential Functions / Process Responsibilities include the following; other duties may be assigned as necessary:

  • Checks buses for conformity according to established mechanical standards.
  • Inspects, diagnoses, and makes skilled and semi-skilled repairs of mechanical defects in buses, automobiles, and related mechanical equipment.
  • Performs all major mechanical repair work, maintains mechanical equipment, and performs general overhauling.
  • Repairs transmissions, differentials, distributors, fuel pumps, lights, radiators, starters, generators, universal joints, and hydraulic systems.
  • Installs batteries, brakes, wiring, window glass, and door handles; repairs and adjusts brakes and aligns wheels.
  • Maintains records for repairs made and time worked.
  • Recommends purchase of needed parts and tools.
  • Operates a variety of powered vehicles.
  • Drives buses as needed for repairs.
  • Cleans tools and work area.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of three (3) years of journey level mechanic experience including general heavy equipment, automotive maintenance, repair work of advanced difficulty. Substantial experience in repairing heavy duty diesel equipment, especially buses, and completion of a recognized course in diesel mechanics is desired
  • Clever devices experience required
  • A valid Commercial Driver License with P endorsement.
  • Good Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) record in accordance with agency standards.
  • Possession of necessary tools to perform above duties.
  • “A, B, C level” heavy-duty mechanic certification or equivalent trade school and apprentice experience.
  • Heavy duty spark ignited engines, diesel and gasoline engine parts, transmissions, brake systems, air conditioning systems, air/hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and related equipment.
  • Tools, precision instruments, equipment, and procedures used in the general overhaul, advanced repair, and maintenance of automotive equipment.
  • Decimals and fractions commonly related to automotive repairs, tools, and parts
  • Operate equipment used in repairing or servicing motorized equipment.
  • Diagnose malfunctions and replace parts, remove and make advanced repairs on a variety of diesel and other automotive equipment.
  • Work any shift at any agency location.
  • Follow instructions.
  • Read parts and repair manuals and keep accurate records on repairs made.
  • Utilize automated maintenance system.

POSITION PURPOSE
The Administrative Assistant is responsible for providing effective customer service to internal and external customers at the front desk in the administrative division.
