Inspiration is in Full Bloom with the Return of the Blossom Bus

The fourth annual DC Circulator Blossom Bus returns to service Sunday, March 17, 2019 – Friday, April 12, 2019.

Once a year we release one specially wrapped pink bus into our fleet of 72 vehicles, to celebrate the annual National Cherry Blossom Festival. The floral vehicle inspires us all to Bus to the Blossoms this season.

This year’s bus theme is based on the inspiration found all around The District. In concert with the National Cherry Blossom Festival theme “Spring Blossoms Here”, the bus sports a bright pink wrap adorned with flower petals and iconic symbols of inspiration in DC. The interior displays hand-crafted artwork by local middle school students. Consider the Blossom Bus a spring-themed art gallery on wheels, serving as a reminder that DC Circulator is your ONLY public transportation option to the cherry trees.

For the first time ever, the 2019 Blossom Bus is one of our 14 100% electric vehicles. These vehicles run on 100 percent battery electric propulsion and bring clean, quiet, zero-emission transportation to The District. The electric Blossom Bus is a perfect pairing as we celebrate the beauty and splendor of mother nature.

Inspiration Blossoms Here for DC Students

Ride the Blossom Bus to see inspiring art by Washington’s talented youth.

Earlier this year we issued a call to schools in the District, inviting DC students in 4th-6th grades to participate in our Inspiration Blossoms Here Student Art and Letters Contest. Middle school classes participated by writing thoughtful letters meant to inspire other children from around the world to visit DC, explore and experience the arts, culture, and history that exists in the area. Students also created visual art to accompany their letters. This custom art is displayed inside the 2019 Blossom Bus.

We are currently deliberating and contest winners will be announced soon. Click here to learn more about the contest and the fun pizza party prize.

Get inspired! Check out the student art exhibit by finding the Blossom Bus on a route near you! Tweet us your love for student work by tagging @dccirculator.
