Special Soccer Service Update

Posted by

We regret to report that the Special Soccer Shuttle is discontinued for all D.C. United 2019 season games. Saturday, March 16, our service for soccer fans will transition to late-night bus service in the area.

Due to the planned construction of the new Frederick Douglass Memorial Bridge, we are unable to provide special shuttle service to Audi Field during the 2019 Major League Soccer (MLS) season. However, to increase accessibility to Audi Stadium during the shuttle’s hiatus, we are extending service hours on the Eastern Market – L’Enfant Plaza (EMLP) route for D.C. United evening games.

Similar to our Baseball service, The EMLP route will provide late-night service until 11 pm for games at Audi Field that start at 7 pm or later.

In addition to the EMLP route, we encourage fans to use other transportation options to reach Audi Field such as Capital Bikeshare, the Navy Yard Metro Station, and Metrobus routes 74, P6, and V1. These alternatives are just a few blocks away on M Street, SE.

For more information on transportation to Audi Field, please see DC United’s Transportation Guide. We apologize for the inconvenience and look forward to serving you in future seasons.

No Soccer Shuttle Sunday, March 3

Posted by

Dear Customers,

Due to construction and utility work along Half Street, SW, as part of the improvements to the South Capitol Bridge, we cannot provide service to Audi Field for the Sunday, March 3 match against Atlanta United. We are working together with the Southwest DC community to identify a suitable alternative that is safe and efficient for all.

Please stay tuned for updates before the Saturday, March 16, 2019 game. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause to your travel plans and encourage you to use a public transit alternative (Metrobus, Metrorail, or Capital Bikeshare) to reach the game.

While Celebrating Three Years of the DC Streetcar, Mayor Once Again Calls on WMATA to Restore Full Rail Service

(WASHINGTON, DC) – Today, while celebrating three years of the DC Streetcar, Mayor Bowser extended free rides on the DC Circulator through March 31, announced a new partnership to give free annual Capital Bikeshare memberships to District veterans, and called on the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) to restore full rail service.

“When we increase access to safe, reliable, and affordable transportation options, we give more Washingtonians a fair shot,” said Mayor Bowser. “While the District is doing a fantastic job providing residents and visitors with a range of ways to move around our city, we know we can’t do it alone: we need Metro working at full capacity. We need a world-class Metro system that meets the needs of a world-class city.”

The free Capital Bikebike memberships for District veterans are made possible through a partnership between Capital Bikeshare’s Community Partner Program and the Mayor’s Office on Veteran’s Affairs (MOVA). The Community Partners Program enables local nonprofits, government agencies, and social services organizations to offer their clients a deeply discounted Capital Bikeshare Annual Membership. MOVA is the first DC Government agency to join the Capital Bikeshare Community Partners Program. District Veterans can learn more about registering for the program and receiving a free helmet by calling MOVA at (202) 724-5454. Capital Bikeshare’s transportation network includes 4,300 bikes and more than 500 stations across six jurisdictions: Washington, DC, Arlington, VA, Alexandria, VA, Montgomery, MD, Prince George’s County, MD, and Fairfax County, VA.

“This program is about offering our Veterans, especially our student Veterans who are often on a tight budget, another affordable option for moving around DC,” said MOVA Director Elliot Tommingo. “As we continue creating new pathways to the middle class for District Veterans, we are very focused on putting in place initiatives that expand access to the many opportunities that exist within our city.”

The Bowser Administration first offered free rides on the DC Circulator as part of #FairShotFebruary. The DC Circulator system operates six distinct routes across Washington, DC and into Rosslyn, VA, and provides close to five million trips a year. The Circulator services each stop every 10 minutes, providing simple, fast and affordable transit to residents, commuters and visitors around the nation’s capital.

Mayor Bowser launched the DC Streetcar along the H Street Northeast corridor on February 27, 2016. The streetcar, which is free of charge, has eight stops and travels from Union Station to Oklahoma Avenue NE and Benning Road NE. In three years of operation, the DC Streetcar has provided more than three million rides. Currently, the District is in the early stages of planning an extension that will extend the DC Streetcar across the Anacostia River to the Benning Road Metro Station.

Mayor Bowser Announces Free Rides on DC Circulator During #FairShotFebruary

(WASHINGTON, DC) – Today, as part of her #FairShotFebruary campaign, Mayor Bowser announced that all rides on the DC Circulator will be free from January 28, 2019 until February 28, 2019. The DC Circulator provides public transportation to many of the District’s main attractions and connects residents and visitors to business, culture, and entertainment corridors.

“We’re kicking off Fair Shot February by making it easier for Washingtonians to get where they need to go and connect to opportunities across DC,”  said Mayor Bowser. “A free Circulator is one way we can use our resources to break down barriers to opportunity—but it’s certainly not the only way. Throughout February and before I send my budget to the Council, I hope Washingtonians from across all eight wards will join us at our Budget Engagement Forums to build on this initiative by sharing their priorities and ideas for making our city’s prosperity more inclusive.”

The DC Circulator system operates six distinct routes across Washington, DC, and into Rosslyn, VA, and provides close to five million trips a year. The Circulator services each stop every 10 minutes, providing simple, fast and affordable transit to residents, commuters and visitors around the nation’s capital. Visit DC Circulator’s interactive map to find the nearest Circulator stop to any destination in DC.

For the fifth year in a row, and throughout Fair Shot February, Mayor Bowser will host Budget Engagement Forums across the District. These forums are an opportunity for Mayor Bowser to hear directly from residents—before the budget is finalized—about how Washingtonians want to see DC’s money spent. This year, the Mayor is hosting a Senior Telephone Townhall on February 11 at 12:00 p.m., a forum at the Arthur Capper Community Center on February 21 at 6:30 p.m, a forum at the Deanwood Recreation Center on Februrary 23 at 10:00 a.m., and a forum at Roosevelt High School on February 25 at 6:30 p.m.
