DC Circulator will Modify Service on the NM, CHUS, EMLP, and DPRS Routes Tuesday, July 4, 2023

National Mall – Service Suspended

Due to the various road closures on the National Mall for July 4th, 2023, service on the National Mall will be suspended all day. Regular service will resume at all bus stops on Wednesday, July 5, 2023.

Eastern Market – L’Enfant Plaza and Congress Heights – Union Station Routes

  • Road closures for the Barracks Row July 4th Parade will impact both DC Circulator bus routes traveling on 8th Street SE on Tuesday, July 4, 2023. To accommodate the event, the route will detour temporarily to 11th Street SE starting at 9:00 am until 12:30 pm or when traffic return to normal. Instead, buses on both routes will serve temporary Metro bus stops along 11th Street between Pennsylvania Avenue & M Street SE.

The following bus stops below will not be served during the parade.

  • Pennsylvania & 8th SE (EMLP)
  • 8th St & E St. SE (EMLP & CHUS)
  • 8th St & G St. SE (EMLP & CHUS)
  • 8th St & L St. SE (EMLP & CHUS)

Dupont Circle-Georgetown-Rosslyn Route

Riders using the Dupont Circle-Georgetown-Rosslyn route on the evening of July 4, 2023, should know that the Key Bridge may be closed due to heavy pedestrian traffic during the fireworks display; during the closure, there will be no bus service to Georgetown or Rosslyn, VA. After servicing the M St & 28th St NW bus stop, the DC Circulator service will detour, making a left on 28th St. NW and then a left onto Pennsylvania Ave. NW, returning service to Dupont Circle.

DC Circulator will Modify Service on the National Mall Route on Sunday.

 May 29, 2023

The parade route will affect the DC Circulator National Mall route street closures will begin at or around 12:00 pm, and the parade is scheduled to start at 2:00 pm. Therefore, the following service changes below will remain in effect until traffic returns to normal.

National Mall Detour Route:

Buses will detour after serving bus stop # 8 at the MLK Memorial. The buses will turn right onto Independence Avenue SW. The buses will make a left turn at 15th St. NW and then a right turn onto Jefferson Drive continuing the regular route.

  • Stop 9 / Lincoln Memorial Circle SW
  • Stop 10 / Constitution Ave NW & 21 St NW
  • Stop 11 / Constitution Ave NW & 18 St NW
  • Stop 12 / 15th St & Madison Drive NW

DC Circulator to Modify Service for the 2023 Lawyers Have Heart 10k,5k & Fun Walk on May 20, 2023.

 

The Lawyers Have Heart 10k, 5k & Fun Walk will lead to road closures affecting the National Mall route. To accommodate the event, the National Mall route will start service with a detour in effect and will continue until 12:00 pm or until traffic returns to normal.

The Museum Loop serves the museums along the National Mall but will not serve the following stops along the Tidal Basin or near the Lincoln Memorial:

  • Stop: # 5 / 15th SW / Jefferson Dr.
  • Stop: # 6 / 15th SW near Maine Ave.
  • Stop: # 7 / E. Basin Dr. SW near Independence Ave.
  • Stop: # 8 / Lincoln Memorial Circle SW
  • Stop: # 9 / Constitution Ave. NW / 21st
  • Stop: # 10 / Constitution Ave. NW / 18th
  • Stop: # 11 / 15th NW / Madison Dr.

Once the activities conclude and streets reopen, the National Mall route will resume normal service.

DC Circulator will Modify Service on the Congress Heights- Union Station Route

Sunday, May 21, 2023

The racecourse will affect the DC Circulator service on the Congress Heights – Union Station route from opening until 11:00 am. Therefore, the following service changes will begin Sunday, May 21, 2023, at the start of service.

Congress Heights Route: Detour – Service will detour from 7:00 am to 11:00 am or until traffic returns to normal.

Buses will not travel to Union Station and will not service the following stops (bus stops north of Pennsylvania Ave)

  • Mass Ave & Columbus Circle
  • 8th Street & East Capitol St

Buses will end service at the Potomac Metro Station. The last bus stop on 8th Street will be 8th & E Street SE before the bus detours to Pennsylvania Ave (Potomac Metro Station) to travel back to Congress Heights:

Detour Route:

  • Buses will turn right on Pennsylvania Ave Eastbound
  • Buses will turn left on Pennsylvania Ave Westbound
  • Then the buses will turn left on 8th St SE and begin regular service to Congress Heights

DC Circulator service will be modified on the National Mall Route starting May 10 – May 13, 2023, for the National Mall Route for the Vietnam War Commemoration Welcome Home Festivities.

 DC Circulator Service will detour after servicing bus stop # 5 at 15th Street & Jefferson Drive SW. Vietnam War Commemoration Map_Updated_0427_1521
The bus service will detour to Independence Ave SW, going westbound and service a temporary bus stop at West Basin Drive & Independence Ave SW.

 

The following bus stops below will not be served:

  • Stop # 6 / 15th Street near Maine Avenue SW
  • Stop # 7/ East Basin Drive SW near Jefferson Memorial
  • Stop # 8 / West Basin Drive near MLK Memorial

Due to critical road closures affecting the National Mall route, the DC Circulator will delay the start of service on the National Mall Route on Sunday, April 2, 2023, due to the 2023 Cherry Blossom 10 Miler.

 

Once race activities have ended at 12:00 p.m., or as road closures allow, regular service will resume at all DC Circulator bus stops.

DC Circulator to Detour National Mall Route Service for the Credit Union Cherry Blossom 5k Run Saturday, April 1, 2023

 

The Credit Union Cherry Blossom 5k run will lead to road closures affecting the National Mall route. The DC Circulator bus service will begin with a detour at 7:00 a.m. and continue until 11:00 a.m., or when traffic returns to normal. Bus service will detour to Madison Drive NW, starting service west of stop # 2 at Madison Drive and 4th Street NW.

 

The following DC Circulator bus stops will not be served during the service detour:

  • 1: E Street, Columbus Circle NE
  • 6: 15th Street and Jefferson Drive SW
  • 7: East Basin Drive SW
  • 8: West Basin Drive near Independence Avenue SW
  • 15: 3rd Street near Madison Drive NW

DC Circulator to Detour National Mall Route Service for the Cherry Blossom Festivities starting Saturday, March 18, 2023

 

The Cherry Blossom Festivities will lead to road closures affecting the National Mall route. The bus service will detour to Independence Avenue SW after serving stop # five (5). A temporary bus stop on Independence Ave SW at the far side of Independence Avenue SW & 17th Street SW will serve the DC Circulator customers during the detour.

The following bus stops will not be served during the service detour:

  • 6: 15th NW near Maine Avenue SW
  • 7: East Basin Drive SW
  • 8: West Basin Drive near Independence Avenue SW

DC Circulator to Modify Service on Multiple Routes this Saturday for the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon and 5k.

The Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon course will run on critical parts of the National Mall route, Georgetown-Union Station route, and Woodley Park-Adams Morgan route.

The marathon course will affect DC Circulator routes from opening until noon. Therefore, the following service changes will begin Saturday, March 18, 2023, at the start of service:

National Mall Route: Detour – Service will detour from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm at Independence Ave SW.

The following bus stops below will not be served.

  • Stop # 9 Lincoln Memorial Circle SW
  • Stop # 10 Constitution Avenue / 21 St NW
  • Stop # 11 Constitution Avenue / 18th St NW
  • Stop # 12 15th Street / Madison Drive SW

Georgetown-Union Station: Detour Service will detour from 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. or once streets reopen to traffic after the conclusion of the marathon. Buses will travel eastbound or westbound into the Union Station garage, and service will detour at Massachusetts Avenue & 5th Street NW.

The following bus stops below will not be served.

  • Union Station Garage
  • North Capitol Street /H Street NE
  • North Capitol Street / Massachusetts Avenue NE (EB & WB)
  • Massachusetts Avenue NE / First Street NE
  • Massachusetts Avenue NW / New Jersey Avenue NW (EB & WB)
  • Massachusetts Avenue NW / 5th Street NW (EB)

Woodley Park-Adams Morgan: Detour – Service will detour from 7:00 am to 12:00 pm or once streets reopen to traffic after the conclusion of the marathon.

Buses will not travel to Adams Morgan and will not service the following stops below (all stops north of Florida Ave):

  • Connecticut Ave NW / 24th St.
  • Adams Mill Rd. NW / Columbia Rd.
  • Columbia Rd. NW / Ontario Rd. NW
  • Mt. Pleasant St NW / Irving St.
  • Irving St NW / 14th St.
  • Columbia Rd. NW / 14th St.
  • Columbia Rd. NW / between 15th & 16th St.
  • Columbia Rd. NW / Ontario Rd.
  • Adams Mill Rd. NW / Columbia Rd.
  • Connecticut Ave. NW / 24th St.
