Service Alert: DC Circulator Operating Limited Service due to Inclement Weather on Monday, January 14, 2019

DC Circulator will resume operations Monday morning, January 14, 2019, on a Severe Snow Plan due to current road conditions. Service in the National Mall Route and Eastern Market to L’Enfant Plaza will be suspended today.  Limited service will operate on all other routes with a start time of 7:00am.  Passengers should expect service delays and increased wait times. DC Circulator will continue to monitor road conditions and will add service as conditions improve.

Regular service on all routes will resume on Tuesday, January 15, 2019.

Service Alert: Extensive Service Delays due to George H. W. Bush State Funeral 12/3/18 and 12/5/18

DC Circulator riders should expect extensive delays in their travel time due to George H. W. Bush State Funeral on Monday, December 3 and Wednesday, December 5, 2018

Road closures starting Monday, December 3 at 3:15pm and extending into the early evening hours will impact all circulator routes.  The Union Station – Congress Heights route will experience extreme delays during the afternoon commute between 3pm-6pm due to closures of Suitland Parkway and service to Congress Heights Metro station might be interrupted for some time. The National Mall route may have impacts due to closures around Union Station. Delays are anticipated due to road closures in the vicinity of the Eastern Market – L’Enfant Plaza Route.

On Wednesday, December 5 the State Funeral will cause closures from the U.S. Capitol to the National Cathedral in the morning and then further closures for the return to Joint Base Andrews. The National Mall Route will begin operations at approximately 11am.  The Georgetown – Union Station, Woodley Park-McPherson Square and Dupont Circle – Rosslyn routes will experience severe delays during the 9:00am-11am rolling closures due to the motorcade traveling from the U.S. Capitol to the  Washington National Cathedral.  In the afternoon, the Union Station – Congress Heights route will experience extreme delays during the afternoon due to closures of Suitland Parkway and service to Congress Heights Metro station might be interrupted for some time.

Regular service on all routes will resume in the evening of Wednesday, December 5.

DC Circulator to Modify Service on the National Mall Route for the 96th Annual National Christmas Tree Lighting on November 28, 2018

DC Circulator to Modify Service for National Christmas Tree Lighting Wednesday, November 28

The 96th National Christmas Tree Lighting will lead to road closures affecting DC Circulator service. Heavy congestion around the event area is likely to lead to delays and extended wait times for buses on the Georgetown-Union Station, Woodley Park-Adams Morgan-McPherson Square, and Dupont-Georgetown-Rosslyn routes. Customers should plan for additional travel time.

On the National Mall route, the following service changes will be effective on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 from 12:30 pm to closing at 7:00 pm. The National Mall route will run on a Modified Loop starting at 12:30 pm. This loop serves the museums along the National Mall, and the following Memorials: Jefferson, FDR and MLK. Jr. The bus then will turn back toward Union Station at Independence Avenue to resume stops at 12th Street, NW and Jefferson Drive (Stop #13). This loop will not serve the following stops along the Tidal Basin or near the Lincoln Memorial:

  • Lincoln Memorial Circle SW
  • Constitution Ave. NW / 21st
  • Constitution Ave. NW / 18th
  • 15th NW / Madison Dr.

Normal service on the National Mall route will resume on Thursday, November 29.

Halloween Activities to Affect DC Circulator Service

Multiple planned events in the District may affect DC Circulator service on Halloween evening (October 31). There will be no detours on any of the six DC Circulator routes but high pedestrian activity, combined with regular Wednesday evening vehicle traffic, may affect travel and/or wait times for DC Circulator Riders.

Service Alert: Service Changes for Race for Marine Corps Marathon

DC Circulator to Modify Service on Multiple Routes this Sunday for the Marine Corps Marathon

Sunday October 28

The Marine Corps Marathon course will run on key parts of the National Mall Route, Dupont Circle-Georgetown-Rosslyn route and on the M Street portion of the Georgetown-Union Station route.

The Marathon course and the Finish Festival in Rosslyn will affect Circulator routes from opening until the late afternoon. Therefore, the following service changes will begin Sunday, October 28 at the start of service:

National Mall Route: Delayed Start – Service will begin at 2pm or once streets are re-opened to traffic. Follow @dccirculator on Twitter for updates.

Dupont Circle-Georgetown-Rosslyn: Delayed Start – Service will begin at 5pm or once streets re-open to traffic after the conclusion of the “Finish Festival”. Follow @dccirculator on Twitter for updates.

Georgetown-Union Station: Detour until 2pm – All West-bound buses headed in the direction of Georgetown will run regular service up until the Pennsylvania Ave. NW/22nd St. stop before traveling around Washington Circle and heading East back toward Union Station.

Buses will not travel into Georgetown and will not service the following stops (all stops west of Washington Circle):

  • Pennsylvania Ave. NW/24th St.
  • Pennsylvania Ave NW/26th St.
  • Pennsylvania Ave. NW/28th St.
  • M St. NW/Thomas Jefferson St.
  • M St. NW/Wisconsin Ave.
  • Wisconsin Ave./O St.
  • Wisconsin Ave./Q St.
  • Wisconsin Ave./R St. (Georgetown Library)
  • Wisconsin Ave./34th St.
  • Wisconsin Ave./35th Street

DC Circulator to Modify Service on Multiple Routes This Weekend for Races and Events

Saturday, September 15

Georgetown-Union Station Route

Road closures for the Race to Beat Cancer will impact the Georgetown-Union Station route on Lower K Street on Saturday, September 16. To accommodate the event, starting at 7am, buses travelling in the Westbound direction will not use K Street NW, proceeding instead along Pennsylvania Avenue and M Street NW.

The following stops in the Westbound direction will not be served:

  • Lower K Street NW / 30th Street;
  • Lower K Street NW / Wisconsin Avenue;
  • Wisconsin Avenue NW / M Street

Once race activities have finished at 12am (noon), or as road closures allow, normal service will resume to all stops.

 

Sunday, September 16

National Mall Route

Road closures and staging areas for Navy-Air Force Half Marathon & Navy 5 Miler race will impact the National Mall route in multiple locations on Sunday, September 17. To accommodate the event, DC Circulator will delay the start of service until 12pm (noon).

Once race activities have finished and streets reopen around 12pm (noon), the route will begin normal service to all stops.
