Boarding

Avoid the lines and board through any door if you have a Circulator pass. Cash and SmarTripTM riders must enter through the front door to pay at the farebox.

Transfers

SmarTripTM users automatically receive a transfer when paying your Circulator fare that allows you to reboard any Circulator within a three-hour time period. Circulator transfers using SmarTrip are accepted on Metrobus with no additional charge; and Metrobus transfers using SmarTrip are accepted on Circulator with no additional charge. Circulator and Metrobus no longer issue or accept paper transfers.

Metrorail transfers using SmarTripTM are accepted with a $.50 payment

Enforcement

Be sure to hold onto your proof of payment (ticket, pass, or SmarTripTM card) while riding the Circulator. Fare checkers will board the Circulator at random stops and times throughout the day to verify that you have paid for your Circulator ride. The $1 fare is the least expensive in town, so don't get caught without paying. There's a hefty fine for scofflaws!
