DDOT Requests Feedback: Union Station-Navy Yard Improvements

DDOT is considering options to improve the service and performance on the Union Station – Navy Yard Route. Bus stop consolidation is one of the strategies being considered to improve on-time performance and reliability by combining bus stops that are very close together. It also reduces the average travel time for passengers because buses are able to move  faster.

We have completed some initial bus stop analysis as part of our planning process to enhance the route performance, and now are moving to seek input from the riders. Your feedback is requested at our open house on September 30th from 6pm to 8pm at the Southeast Neighborhood Library, 403 7th Street SE, Washington DC 20003.

The stops we are seeking input from the public to be consolidated are:

Northbound

• M Street SE at 4th St SE: Consolidate to 600 M Street SE
• 8th Street SE at E Street SE: Consolidate to 8th Street SE at Pennsylvania Avenue SE
• Pennsylvania Avenue SE at 5thStreet SE (Seward Square): Consolidate to Pennsylvania Avenue SE at 3rd StreetSE
• 8th Street SE at G Street SE: Consider future consolidation to 8thStreet SE at L Street SE if low ridership persists

Southbound
• Pennsylvania Avenue SE at 5thStreet SE (Seward Square): Consolidate to Pennsylvania Avenue SE at 8th StreetSE and/or Independence Ave at 2ndStreet SE
• 8th Street SE at D Street SE: Consolidate to Pennsylvania Avenue at 8th Street SE
• M Street SE at 4th Street SE: Consolidate to 600 M Street SE
