Capitol Riverfront/Nationals Park/Yards Park
The Capitol Riverfront is located just south of Capitol Hill on the Anacostia River and is home to our professional baseball team, the Washington Nationals, and their stadium, Nationals Park, in addition to the U.S. Navy Yard and numerous beautiful parks. The neighborhood is rapidly developing and will welcome a large number of new retailers and residential and commercial buildings in the coming years, including the opening of ten restaurants in 2012.
Capitol Riverfront's largest public space, The Yards Park, has become a premier location for events in the District. The 5.5 acre riverfront park offers open, grassy areas; a waterfall and a boardwalk in addition to many more unique elements, catering to a host of residents, visitors and employees who work in the area. Hop on the DC Circulator's Union Station-Navy Yard route and get off at the Navy Yard Metro Station stop to enjoy the stunning Yards Park and all is has to offer.
Nationals Park, home to the Washington Nationals, is the first major stadium in the United States accredited as a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) structure and is a huge asset to the up and coming Capitol Riverfront neighborhood. Tens of thousands of fans flood this flourishing neighborhood on game days to cheer on the team. Nationals Park is accessible by multiple modes of transportation, including the Circulator, which offers extended service on Nationals home game days.
